AAP depends on borrowed leaders, and no representation of women is highly deplorable: Bajwa

CHANDIGARH: The Leader of the Opposition (LoP), Partap Singh Bajwa on Saturday ridiculed the Aam Aadmi Party for running its politics with the borrowed leaders.

Senior Congress Leader, Bajwa also slammed the AAP government for its failure to give representation to women in these Lok Sabha Elections.

"It is as absurd as it sounds that the AAP has been in active politics for the past more than 10 years, however, it could not develop its party cadre at ground level. The sole reason why the AAP could not develop the base is that the people of Punjab still do not trust the party", Bajwa added.

The opposition leader said that from a total of 13 Lok Sabha Constituency, the AAP has fielded three borrowed leaders including Dr Raj Kumar Chabbewal from Hoshiarpur (borrowed from Congress), Pawan Kumar Tinu from Jalandhar (borrowed from SAD) and Gurpreet Singh GP from Fatehgarh Sahib (borrowed from Congress).

Besides this, Bajwa said, the AAP fielded its cabinet ministers and MLAs from other seats. Moreover, it is highly unfortunate for the AAP government as it did not give representation to the women in the Lok Sabha Elections. The party that often talks about women empowerment and equality could not even find a single woman candidate. Earlier the broom party did not give representation to women in Rajya Sabha", Bajwa added.

"If we look a decade back at the Lok Sabha Elections of 2014, the AAP has lost most of its candidates, leaders and even MPs. Leaders like Harinder Singh Khalsa, Sucha Singh Chhotepur, Harvinder Singh Phoolka, Dr Dharamvira Gandhi, Bhai Baldeep Singh, actress Gul Panag and many others have snapped their ties with AAP. Perhaps the AAP does not appreciate the presence of the sane voices in the party", Bajwa added.
